چکیده

Objectives This is a protocol for Cochrane Review (diagnostic). The objectives are as follows: To assess the diagnostic accuracy of near‐patient tests G6PD deficiency in people undergoing treatment or prophylaxis with primaquine tafenoquine malaria; at risk susceptible to malaria. Secondary investigate sources heterogeneity, namely following. Age: adults versus children Sex: male female Reported prevalence (high low) Malaria endemicity (endemic non‐endemic) Geographic location (continent residence; that is, Africa, Asia, other continent) Reference standard used (adjusted median, median G6PD, laboratory standard) Type blood (venous capillary) compare each type test.

Tolerability and safety of weekly primaquine against relapse of Plasmodium vivax in Cambodians with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

BACKGROUND Primaquine is used to prevent Plasmodium vivax relapse; however, it is not implemented in many malaria-endemic countries, including Cambodia, for fear of precipitating primaquine-induced acute haemolytic anaemia in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PDd). Reluctance to use primaquine is reinforced by a lack of quality safety data. This study was conducted t...

[Association of methemoglobinemia and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency in malaria patients treated with primaquine].

This study had the aim of investigating occurrences of methemoglobinemia among individuals with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency during treatment for malaria infection using primaquine. Patients with a diagnosis of malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax or the V+F mixture (Plasmodium vivax + Plasmodium falciparum) were selected. Group 1 consisted of 74 individuals with a clinical diagno...

Intravascular Hemolysis Due to Glucose‐6‐Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency in a Patient with Aluminium Phosphide Poisoning

Aluminium Phosphide poisoning and glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency are two commonly seen clinical presentations in Iran. However, hemolysis associated with Aluminium Phosphide poisoning is very rare. We report a case of concurrent Aluminium Phosphide poisoning and glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency in a 24 year old man presenting with intravascular hemolysis. Key words...

The use of primaquine in malaria infected patients with red cell glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in Myanmar.

32 subjects with Plasmodium falciparum gametocytes, and 31 cases with Plasmodium vivax infection from two military hospitals (Lashio, Mandalay) were treated with quinine 600 mg three times a day for 7 days followed by primaquine 45 mg single dose for gametocytes and 45 mg weekly x 8 weeks for vivax malaria. Although screening of red cell glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) was done prior t...
